NTIQ PIPs Open Courses

Course Details

NTI run open courses (lecture room based courses, open to anyone to enrol and join) for both PIPs 1 and 2. They are held in a central Manchester location.

From start to potential MAS (FCA) accredited qualification in seven weeks (per PIP)

Wyman Report January 2018 - Recommendation 16

All authorised debt advisers should have a debt advice qualification before they can offer debt advice unassisted, and should be required each year to undergo proportionate continuing professional development that includes updating for changes in law and reviewing the latest evidence of effective practice. The requirement for, and syllabus of, the debt advice qualification, and the requirement for continuing professional development, should be set out by the FCA. There should be a phased transition for existing advisers, where they have a window of three years to obtain an approved qualification to enable them to continue to work in the sector

NTI’s NTIQ PIP qualifications all stand alone, being qualifications in their own right. Each one has full MAS (FCA) accreditation.

The courses comprise of:

Face-to-Face Day 1

A lecture from 9.30am until 4.30pm with one of NTI’s dedicated personal insolvency trainers. There will be exercises, discussion and full technical and interpersonal skills training. All handouts, exercises, case studies and materials are included.

Webinar 1

Remote attendance of a one and a half hour webinar, with all materials and exercises included.

Face-to-Face Day 2

A dynamic and interactive day with an NTI trainer, dealing with key course materials, exam technique, case studies and exercises to cover the syllabus and ensure total understanding.

Exam 1

An electronic sitting (computer and keyboard provided) of the first of the two externally set and validated PIP exams (Exam 1 must be passed before Exam 2 can be taken - see below). Both exams are two hour ‘papers’ and consist of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and practical Case Study questions directly relating information learnt to the day-to-day job. There are 20 MCQs (worth 2 marks each) and two 30 mark case study formatted questions. The pass mark is 60%.

Webinar 2

A second webinar exploring another key aspect of the syllabus, with practical references and an exam-centric view.

Face-to-Face Day 3

The third and final full day’s lecturing, ensuring that all essential subject-matter is covered and that each candidate feels absolutely prepared for the vital final Exam 2.

Exam 2

This two hour exam is the same format as Exam 1 (above) with the same pass mark.

Course Costs

The course costs (for each of PIPs 1 and 2) is £495 for all lectures, materials, webcasts, exercises, case studies and support.
